Daily Operations

  • The program will meet 2 times per week, from 5:30 to 8:30.
  • 1 hour will be spent in class, students will eat dinner, the one and 1/2 hours in lab.
  • 12 high school students will participate and work in small groups of 4.
  • They will work as individuals and as groups to research and present information to classmates and guests.
  • These presentations will be required to meet strict standards and will be closely related to the tasks they are engaged in on the car build.
  • The class curriculum will meet Colorado Department of Education Vocation Education Standards, and include elements of the Society of Automotive Engineers curriculum for high school students.
  • The group of 4 students will be led by an adult mentor who will keep students on task.
  • Many outside professionals, from various fields will visit to present topics to students and assist students in the car build.
  • Students will learn a variety of topics and develop skills around technology, education, fabrication and professionalism.
  • The course instructor will be a licensed vocational educator with a background in special education and will coordinate the coursework and assist students to develop their learning skills.
  • The program was developed by and will be delivered by educators, engineers and car builders.
  • All aspects of program will be rigorously evaluated.
